HNC Final Collection: A Milliner's Tale
Using Aristotle’s five classical stages of drama as a framework, The Milliner’s Tale in Five Acts tells a simple story: a journey to rediscover, nurture, and realise the creativity that once thrived in youth but now lies buried beneath the routine of daily life.
Inspired by Tomoko Nakamichi’s Pattern Magic and the art of paper folding, I explored three-dimensional form using traditional millinery materials. Jagged, irregular lines represent the hidden and raw nature of creativity as it first resurfaces. As the collection unfolds, these lines soften and become symmetrical, symbolising the gradual process of reconnecting with and embracing creative expression.
There is no hat for Act V. Instead, the final act is a blank canvas—signifying the open-ended journey that lies ahead.
